Summary

Oil painting on canvas, Italianate Landscape with Travellers after Gaspard Dughet (Rome 1615 – Rome 1675), 17th century. A herdsman on atrack, a monastery on an oucrop beyond.This is a version with different figures of the picture in the National Gallery of South Africa, Cape Town.

Provenance

Bought 8th May 1990, lot 51; became the property of the National Trust, by donation, with all profits henceforward benefiting the houses and the charity, from Historic House Hotels Ltd and all its interests in Hartwell House and the other two Historic House Hotels, Bodyscallen Hall and Midddlethorpe Hall, in September 2008
