Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), Saint John the Baptist Preaching by Aureliano Milani (Bologna 1675 - Rome 1749), signed with monogram and dated on back of canvas: A.M. / 1738. An upright oval view of Saint John the Baptist seated on a rock by a pool, preaching. A late work by this artist, more characteristic of his search for expressiveness than of his desire to revive the art of the Carracci.
