Summary
A soapstone group of a female guardian lion, often called a 'Dog of Fo', with six cubs. The lion is on all fours with her head turned to the left, a ball beneath her front left paw. Her six cubs climb on her body playing with balls and chasing each other. The group is displayed on a carved wooden stand.
Provenance
Listed in the 1949 catalogue of Lady Binnings' collection at Fenton House, p. 10. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Lady Katherine Binning (1871-1952) with Fenton House in 1952.
