Summary
[Destroyed in the fire of 2015] Oil painting on canvas, An Imaginary Winter Scene with Figures amusing themselves on a Frozen River beside a Town, with Actors on a Stage and Skaters, in the manner of Jan Wyck (Haarlem 1645 – Mortlake 1700), 1679. A town at the left aligns a frozen river; on the ice in the foreground a booth has been set up; numerous figures are walking or are on horseback and the artist is sketching in the foreground. One of two oil paintings of village scenes in the manner of Jan Wyck; NT 1441560 bears a date and signature.

Bought from the Ministry of Works from Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel (1887-1959) and transferred by H.M. Treasury to the National Trust, 1958; on loan from Hatchlands Drawing Room (HATCH/P/13)
