Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Robert Beachcroft (d.1721), British (English) School, circa 1711-1712. A three-quarter-length portrait of a mature man, turned to the left, head turned to the right, seated, gazing at the spectator, wearing the red robes and the chain of office as Lord Mayor of London. The re-identification of the portrait Jan/Feb 1997 by Ralph Hyde as Sir Robert Beachcroft, Master of the Cloth workers in 1700 and Lord Mayor in 1711/12.
