Summary
Oil painting on panel, Sir Allen Cotton (c.1560-1628), Mayor of London (1625), British (English) School, circa 1625-1626. A half-length portrait of an elderly man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing his red mayoral robes, chain of office and holding his staff of office in his right hand, he also wears a small ruff, open at the front and a black hat with a wide brim. Coat of arms in the top left corner.
