Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Lady in a Pink Gown (Probably Hester Price, Wife of Sir John Morgan of Kinnersley Castle; m. 1677), British (English) School, circa 1670-1679. Portrait of a lady. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, seated, gazing at the spectator, her head inclined to the right, leaning on her left hand, her left elbow resting on a table on the right, her right hand in her lap holding a posy of flowers. She has light brown hair, and is wearing a pink wrap-over dress over a white chemise. Blue and green drapes in the background. ,
Provenance
Pensax Court, Worcs. Descended with 15 other portraits to Prof. T H Clutton-Brock, by whom lent to his cousin Alan Clutton-Brock at Chastleton. Bought NHMF 1991. Probably no.6 on 'Clutton-Brock portraits' list.
