Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Henry Jones IV (1700/01-1761), attributed to Edward Penny, RA (Knutsford 1714 – Chiswick 1791). A three-quarter-length portrait of a man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, in a short powdered wig, wearing a green velvet coat, white shirt with frilled front, leather belt, a leather glove on his right hand holding a switch with his cap on a knoll beside him on the left, his left hand tucked into his belt. Landscape background, with rocks to the left and distant horizon with sunset sky to the right.
