Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Tribute Money after Sir Peter Paul Rubens (Seigen 1577 - Antwerp 1640). The scene shows the biblical story from Matthew 22:15-22, when Jesus asked by the Pharisees if it was lawful to pay tax to Caesar, asked them whose image was on a coin. When they answered Caesar's, he said; 'Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's.' It is probable that this was painted from the engraving of it by Lucas Vorsterman, a version of which is in the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco
