Summary
Oil painting on canvas, 'Phryne before her Judges' by Walford Graham Robertson (London 1867 – 1948), 1912. Accused of profaning the Eleusinian mysteries, she was defended by Hypereides who took off her clothes and the Judges acquitted her on the grounds of her naked beauty which they thought to be divine. A child in a blonde wig, naked in the front of her toys.
