Summary description

Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Gentleman, by British (English) School, circa 1800. A half-length portrait of a man turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a grey coat with a velvet collar and a white shirt with cravat. Rosy cheeks and receding hair line. Background of red curtain.


Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969).
