Summary
Pencil on paper, Alice Blanche Gibbs, Mrs Alfred Gurney (1843-1871) and her Child, British (English) School. A portrait of Alice Blanche Gurney and her child, the second daughter of William Gibbs. A rectangular pencil drawing in a cream mount with gold tirm. It has a gilded narrow frame with beaded finish, some signs of damage to the frame. 110 mm section of wooden backing is missing. A lozenge-shaped label printed 'Austin and Oates/ Carvers and Gilders / 9 Park St. / BRISTOL. A handwritten label in black ink as follows, ALICE BLANCHE GURNEY/ second child of Wm. Gibbs of TYNTESFIELD / b 27 Oct 1843. M. 16 Aug 1866 / d. 17 March 1871. bur. at Wraxall / Married ALFRED GURNEY of the Lower Temple afterwards Rector of St Barnabas Pimlico / for many years.
