Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sarah Browne, Mrs Fetherstonhaugh (d.1767), British (English) School, circa 1710/12. An oval half-length portrait, turned slightly to the left, gazing slightly to the right, wearing a green dress over white. The sitter was the daughter of Robert Browne, she married Matthew Fetherstonhaugh the Elder in 1710, to whom she left a large fortune bequeathed by her only brother.
Provenance
Accepted in lieu of tax on the death of Admiral the Hon. Sir Herbert Meade-Fetherstonhaugh (1875-1964) in 1965 and transferred to the National Trust by HM Treasury in September 1985
