Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Mid-day Rest by Wouter Vershuur (Amsterdam 1812 - Vorden 1874), signed with artist's name in bottom right hand corner. The picture shows two brown horses in centre with man on a log with a dog beside him, building with arch on left with rear end view of two grey horses in background.

Bought by Antony Gibbs (1841 - 1907) from Goupil in 1880, thence by descent; purchased by the National Trust from the estate of the late George Richard Lawley Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall (1928 – 2001) with the assistance of the NHMF, Art Fund and donations from members and supporters in 2002
