Summary
Tapestry, wool and silk, 3½ warps per cm, Soldiers in a Landscape, Flemish, c. 1575-1600. A small tapestry panel, with two armed men in the right foreground and troops of soldiers in the landscape filling the rest of the scene. The lower right quarter of the tapestry with the two large figures has been sewn onto the rest, but the two pieces could originally have been part of the same panel. There is a section of beige canvas joined to the bottom of the panel. The tapestry may be related to a fragment in storage at Coughton, no. 135720.
