Oil painting on panel, Anne Carew, Lady Throckmorton (1520-1587), aged 53, attributed to Hieronymus Cutodis (fl.1589 -1593), inscribed: AETATIS SVAE 53/Anno Dni.1590/ANNE/THROGMORTON, A painted ovel half-length portrait of Anne, daughter of Sir Nicholas Carew and wife of Sir Nicholas Throckmorton and mother of Elizabeth, wife of Sir Walter Raleigh. She wears black surcoat over a white blouse embroidered with black thistles, a high ruff and holds a ?thistle in her right hand.
