Summary
Oil painting on panel, Sir Robert Throckmorton (d.1586), British (English) School, late 16th century, inscribed across thepicture along the top in gold: Sr ROBERT/THROGMORTON. A half-length portrait of Sir Robert Throckmorton, eldest son of Sir GeorgeThrockmorton and High Sheriff of Warwick and Leicester, slightly left, in black fur-edged tippet and black cap. He holds his gloves in his left hand and his right hand is resting on a skull. He married Muriel Berkeley firstly (had four children) and secondly Elizabeth, daughter of Lord Hussey and widow of Lord Hungerford (with whom had six children).
