Summary
Petticoat. Silk, wide and narrow vertical stripes, predominantly pink with green and cream, also horizontal stripes in cream. Brocaded pattern of orange and yellow spots, also vertical cream stripes resembling ribbons. Pleated towards back onto narrow silk band. No pleats centre-front. Pocket slits. Centre-back opening. Front with extra horizontal panel of self-fabric, the upper edge pinked and gathered. Both top and bottom edged with same fly braid as on robe. (female) Petticoat to match 2009a of silk taffeta with a pale pink ground having horizontal narrow stripes in ivory and wide vertical stripes woven in pink, green and cream, incorporating a ziz-zag stripe and orange and yellow dots, the whole designed to resemble ribbons. Pleated at waist onto narrow binding of silk ribbon, which forms tying tapes at back opening. Flat at centre front with pleats facing towards back on both sides. Slight shaping downwards to centre front. Pocket slits of both sides for 24.5cm (9.5”). Open at centre back. Front of skirt has additional horizontal deep flounce of same fabric applied over the main skirt, gathered at top with pinked edge. Trimmed with same cream silk passmenterie at hem and top, just below the gathering.
