Summary
Made from narrow straw plait 0.5cm handstitched through overlapped plaits in a spiral from the centre of the crown. The head is lined with fine cream silk.The edges are wired and the edge of the brim and top of the crown are covered with Bedfordshire Maltese lace. A cream ribbed silk ribbon is pleated at the bck of the crown and along the lower edges extending into ties. There is a frillof tulle and cream silk lace inside the brim with muslin flowers stiffened and shaded mauve and yellow. Pinned in place. (female)
