Summary
Dress - A woman's silk/wool mix dress dating from 1820-1825. Fabric - Pale nettle grey silk/wool mixture with spring texture. Lining Bodice and sleeves lined with unbleached cotton. Cut - Waistline under bust. 'V' neckline. Bodice front cut on the bias with centre seam, and 2 bust darts. Centre-back opening. The back has seam curving from armhole to waist. Curved neckline. Short puff sleeves with stiffened oversleeves of 3 'petals'. Skirt front cut straight and falling smoothly from waist. The skirt back fuller with flared gores and close pleating at the waist. 2 row pleated and piped self frill at hem. Bodice seams top-stitched. Trimmings - Pleated cream silk gauze in curved panels at neck, also ruched trim round sleeve opening. Oversleeves edges piped cream satin. Bias bands cream satin at neck and above frills on skirt.
