Summary
Belt - Part of a woman's chiffon overdress with belt and sash dating from 1825-30. Fabric - Primrose yellow chiffon. Belt, sash and trim of pastel yellow satin ribbon. Lining - Satinwood silk ribbon waistband and belt lining. Hem stiffened with white buckram. Hem trimming faced with glazed cotton. Cut - Slightly raised waistline. Scoop neck. Bodice front cut in one piece, gathered at neck and shoulder, the fullness gathered in to the centre at the waist. 2 satin bands holf the gathers at the shoulder. Centre-back opening extends into skirt. Diagonal seam from armhole to waist. The centre panels gathered at neck and waist. Puff sleeves gathered at head and into satin band at opening. Set-in waistband. Skirt gathered all round, decorated from knee to hem with 2 rows detached oblong panels. Satin belt with stiff interlining. Satin ribbon sash with 3 rows along its length, which meet centre-back leaving a long looped tail. Trimmings - Neck, sleeves and skirt panels edged with satin ribbon cut on the bias. Frill at neck and sleeve openng. Machine-made net hand run with flowers and Vandyke edge. Narrow frill of needle-run lace above neckline. Fastenings - Flattened copper hook with 2 buttonhole bars at neck. 2 pairs silver hooks and eyes on waistband. tape loop inside wasitband left hand side.
