Summary
Dress - c.1815 cotton dress. Fabric - White cotton with small woven over-check of purple thread (possibly logwood dye). Lining - White cotton to bodice and undersleeves. Cut - High-waisted. Front opening bodice. Apron front skirt ('low-stomacher' front - see Cunnington's description in 'English Costume in the 19th Century' p355). Inner bodice extends from bodice lining. Front sections bias cut with dart for bust. Underarm panels. Shoulder seams set back slanting down to armhole. Fitted neckline with neck band and double self-frill. Long sleeves, full at head, gathered towards back. Narrowing towards wrist, buttoned wristband with 2 self-frills. Skirt with slightly flared side seams. Apron front with running tape tie. Closely gathered centre-back. 2 1/2 inch/ 1.3cm tucks at hem. Fastenings Inner bodice would be pinned. Outer bodice front also shows signs of pinning. Tied at back waist. Dorset buttons at wrist.
