Summary
Gig umbrella - Grey/green silk woven en disposition. Thick brass tipped whalebone ribs. Short right-angled, painted wooden handle. Brass ferrule. Size 37.5 inches (952mm). Label 'Barnard Collection'. On other side 'First umbrella ever used in Evesham. It was purchased by Mr J W Lavender in London and Dresden house 'pamphlet a.h.q. Vol I' Evesham Memorandum Books; which were kept by J W Lavender' cf Nancy Bradfield 'Costume in Detail' p56
