Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of turquoise blue silk satin, 415 mm (16 in) wide. Quilted matching silk thread. Lined glazed wool, stone white. Cut with 6 panels, pleated onto a narrow tape waistband; a centre panel of 750 mm (3 in), with knife pleats pointing backwards, being shallow at the front, deeper at the sides and back. The final 100 mm (4 in) each side of the centre-back opening has a narrow casing formed from the body of the garments, with the ends of the waistband running through as drawstrings. Side pocket openings 255 mm (10 in) are faced with narrow silk ribbon. Quilted overall in deepe scallops with a border of feather patterns, flowers and seed heads.
