Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of eggshell blue silk satin 482 mm (19 in) wide, quilted with matching silk thread. Linen with grey glazed wool, white wool interlining. Hem and openings faced with matching silk ribbon. Cut in 7 panels, pleated onto a narrow waistband of silk ribbon; knife pleats facing backwards to centre-back from 100 mm (4 in) panel at centre-front. Pocket slit on right-hand side. Quilted in a diaper pattern. Fastened presently at right side with tapes; an eye of round wire is also attached. Cf. Nancy Bradfield 'Costume in Detail' p23. (dress)
