Summary
Jacket; Maternity jacket - Ribbed silk, tamboured with sprigs and wavy lines. Brown, pink, green and blue silk thread on cream ground. Bodice lined bleached linen, sleeves and cuffs lined fine blue silk. High, straight waist with straight, gathered peplum. Overlapped front pening with scooped neckline. No underarm seam. Back in 2 shaped sections. Set-in sleeves with 2 seams. Elbow-length with box pleated falling cuff of same fabric. Lining attached to bodice to side front, then forms an inner bodice, the front edges whaleboned, with holes for lacing. Hem and cuff edged matching silk cord ribbon. Three flat metal hooks with three sets hand worked bars for adjustment. Originally edge to edge. Peplum made from flounce of dress. Posibly altered to maternity jacket from an earlier garden.
