Summary
Dress fabric for a block printed and pencilled cotton dress. Meandering floral trail with background of pindots, voided stripes and flower sprays. Printed red and purple madder, black outlines with blue and yellow pencilled in to give orange and green. Bodice and sleeves lined with bleached linen. Bodice edge to edge front, wide neckline. Fitted. No underarm seam. Back - 4 panels tapering to low point renter back. Each piece made up with lining and oversewn together. Sleeve - 3 darts at head. Stripes go round sleeves. Straight, narrow. Elbow shaped by 3 darts across front. Skirt 3 widths. Closely knife-pleated to side front of bodice. 2 pocket slits. 2 channels of cotton cord loops and cotton tapes inside to make the polonaise. No trimmings. Evidence of pinning on renter front bodice.
