Caption
Peter was thrown into prison by Herod. As he was sleeping in his cell an angel appeared in shining light. Peter, recognisable from his blue tunic and gold cloak, is being led out by an angel, but, from what looks more like a church interior, with a tiled floor, characteristic of paintings of churches in the Dutch 17th century than a Jerusalem prison.
Summary

According to the biblical Book of Acts, Peter was imprisoned by Herod Agrippa but the night before his trial while the guards slept around him he was visited by an angel who woke him saying, "Get up quickly".
