Summary
Large oil painting on canvas, A Lawyer, English School 17th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of a lawyer/judge, wearing red robes with a fur stole and large white collar with bib and fur edging to three-quarter length sleeves. White cuffs of a another garment protruding from robe, and holding a pair of gloves in his left hand. Seated looking to right with right hand resting on the arm of a green upholstered chair with gold fringing and studding to edges, in front of a dark green curtain with gold fringing. On his right hand, resting on arm of chair, a gold seal ring on little finger. Left hand holds a pair of brown gloves with embroidered wrist. In R top corner scene of a cliff with buildings on. In a gold painted, carved frame.
