Summary
Box; Matchbox - Wooden oval matchbox with lid. Box labelled 'Superior Congrere Matches from one of the Greatest and most Famous German Manufacturers'. Shows Royal Coat of Arms. Stricker on top of lid. Contains black headed matches. Stored in 'Kentish Oasts' tin SNO.M.1595. In notebook no.5, page 5 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Top Royal. 26. 'Bentwood Box of Superior Congrere matches 'one of the greatest + most famous manufactories'. Wade has also included a detailed drawing of the box.
