Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Egerton (1713-1756), after Thomas Hudson (1701-1779). A three-quarter-length portrait in blue coat and a short grey wig. Youngest of the three sons of John Egerton and Elizabeth Barbour. Nothing more appears to be known about him than that he was apprenticed to a merchant in Amsterdam in 1732, when his grandmother wished to commission a portrait of him, but he discouraged the idea, as he thought the prices in Holland extravagantly dear.
