Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Under the Lion of St Mark's by Keeley Halswelle (1832-1891), signed and dated Keeley Halswelle Venice 1873. Depicts a scene with Italian peasants with guitars seated under the Lion of St Mark's, Venice. The artist went to Rome in 1868 and seems to have spent much of his life in Italy up to 1874.
