Summary
An ebony and tortoiseshell cabinet, mid 17th Century, Augsburg cabinet. Ebony veneer on an oak carcase, the doors with tortoiseshell borders and panels opening to reveal a centre cupboard surrounded by ten drawers. Cupboard, fronts and interiors, each with chased and pierced silver panel, depicting a mythological scene. The centre panel is St George and the dragon, side carrying handles, turned bun feet, later ebonised stand.
