A 19th Century giltwood and gesso casket of cassone form; probably Italian. The rising top decorated with floral and foliate sprays within a stiff leaf and anthemion border, the sides painted with panels in the 16th Century style flanked by pilasters on a stiff leaf moulded plinth base.
Purchased by the National Trust from William Copeland via Bonhams at 'The Contents of Trelissick House, including The Copeland China Collection' sale, Feock, near Truro, Cornwall, 23-24th July 2013, lot 144
