Geoffrey Mander was the eldest son of Theodore and Flora Mander. After studying organic chemistry at Trinity College, Cambridge he joined Mander Brothers (a paint and varnish manufacturers), eventually becoming Chairman. In 1907 he married Rosalind Florence Caverhill, by whom he had three children: Mavis, Mervyn and Elizabeth. He was a magistrate and a Wolverhampton Councillor, and from 1929 to 1945 was Liberal M.P. for East Wolverhampton. In 1930 he was divorced, but later that same year he married Rosalie Glynn Grylls, with whom he had two children, John and Anthea.

A half-length portrait of the eldst child of Theodore Mander and his wife Flora, seated to right in blue suit and striped tie against a marbled grey background. Geoffrey Mander (1882-1962) was the eldest son of Theodore and Flora Mander. After studying organic chemistry at Trinity College, Cambridge he joined Manders, eventually becoming Chairman. In 1907 he married Rosalind Florence Caverhill; they had three children: Mavis, Mervyn and Elizabeth. He was a magistrate and a Wolverhampton Councillor, and from 1929 to 1945 was Liberal M.P. for East Wolverhampton. In 1930 Geoffrey Mander was divorced. Later the same year he married Rosalie Glynn Grylls ; they had two children, John and Anthea. In 1937 Geoffrey Mander gave Wightwick Manor and its contents to the National Trust, and with his wife began developing both the Pre-Raphaelite and William Morris collections. In 1945 he was knighted. The collections remained among Sir Geoffrey's chief interests until his death.
