Summary
Plaster cast of the seated god Jupiter with two accompanying figures. The veiled woman is likely to be his wife, Juno, the woman to his right may be a young female lover, which suggests that this is a commentary on the nature of love. The column to the left and two ridges along the bottom and top function as a framing device The figures are unclear, suggesting that this version has been taken from a heavily used master cast as is the case with another version of this scene, hung on the opposite wall of the Orangery a at Knole (NT. 128674).
