Summary
Procession of four figures, a young man in the front followed by an old man, another young man behind him, with an old, bearded man in the rear. Each youth holds an object, the first a staff, the second a disc, behind them the older men have their togas wrapped around them.
Full description
This depiction comes from a Neo-Attic marble relief (early first century B.C.) showing Bacchus visiting a mortal, with these figures belonging to Bacchus’ entourage. The original relief is in the British Museum collection (1805,0703.123). The original was in the Townley collection and was displayed in his hall in Park Street, London (now Queen Ann’s Gate). Another version is in the Archaeological Museum Naples.
