Summary
Oil painting on panel, A Toothless Violinist, British School, 19th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of an elderly grey-haired man in a tail coat, a violin and bow tucked beneath right arm, his hat upturned in left hand, gap-toothed and wearing a waistcoat and white stock. In giltwood frame with glass.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust with Shugborough’s park and contents of the state rooms, in part-payment of death-duties to the Treasury, following the death of Thomas, 4th Earl of Lichfield (1883 - 1960)
