Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Edward Anson, 4th Earl of Lichfield (1883-1960) by Frank Samuel Eastman (Anerley 1878 – fl.1940), signed and dated: frank Eastmans 1936. A half-length portrait, old man, seated in a chair, his hands on his knees, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, grey receding hair, grey moustache, wearing a dark suit, white shirt and dark tie. Painted from a photograph.

Provenance

Transferred to the National Trust with Shugborough’s park and contents of the state rooms, in part-payment of death-duties to the Treasury, following the death of Thomas, 4th Earl of Lichfield (1883 - 1960)
