Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Virgin Annunciate, manner of Carlo Maratta, (Camerano 1625 – Rome 1713), late 18th century. The Virgin is shown, seated, three-quarter length, turned slightly to right, her head inclined to left, looking down at a book held up in her right hand; lilies to the right, the angel Gabriel in the sky background left.

first recorded circa 1800 (no. 37); thence by descent until bequeathed by (Henry John) Ralph Bankes (1902 – 1981) to the National Trust, together with the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy and its entire contents in 1981
