Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Henry Parker, 2nd Bt of Honington (c.1640-1713), possibly John Closterman (1660 - 1711), 1690/1700. A half-length portrait of the father of Margaret Parker, who married John Bankes the Elder in 1691, turned right, head inclined three-quarters to spectator, wearing a brown coat with orange lining, his right hand, fingers spread, rests on his chest, his fingers tucked into a fold of his coat.
Provenance
by descent, through the marriage of the sitter's daughter, Margaret, to John I Bankes, until bequeathed by (Henry John) Ralph Bankes (1902 – 1981) to the National Trust, together with the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy and its entire contents in 1981
