Summary
A mahogany wastepaper basket, English, early 20th century in the mid-18th century style. Of octagonal form, all sides arched at the top and profusely pierced with tracery lights and shapes in the Gothic manner. With bracket feet.

Date of acquisition not recorded; bequeathed by Margaret McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald Greville (1863-1942) with Polesden Lacey, to the National Trust, in memory of her father, William McEwan (1827-1913) in 1942.
