Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Gentleman, British (English) School, 18th Century. Half-length portrait of a gentleman, turned to the right, his head turned back towards the viewer, wearing a long powdered wig, white cravat and dark coat, with lace at the wrist.

Armstrong collection; transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
