Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Robert Barclay (d. 1779), attributed to Thomas Duncan, RA (Kinclaven 1807 – Edinburgh 1845). A full-length portrait of a young man, wearing a pale brown suit, holding a cap in his right hand and the barrel of a gun in his left, standing in a landscape, with a black spaniel at his feet. Based on the figure in the large double portrait of Robert and Thomas Barclay (1728 - 1793) out stalking, painted by Duncan in circa 1840 (Sotheby's 13th November 1991, lot 103)
