Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Henry Vane-Tempest, 2nd Bt (1771-1813) by Eduard Ströhling (Düsseldorf 1728 - London after 1826), circa 1819, signed. A full-length portrait of Sir Henry Vane Tempest, the owner of the celebrated thoroughbred, Hambletonian (1792 - 1818) who won most of his races; his seat was Wynyard Park, Co. Durham, where the horse is buried.
