Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Geertruid Johanna Quirina van der Duyn, Countess of Albemarle (1674 - 1741) by Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), circa 1701. A full-length portrait of the Countess of Albemarle, seated on a dais, wearing the robes of a peeress. Her cloak falls over a plinth on the left, on which is placed her coronet, and on which she rests her right elbow. In 1701 she married Arnold Joost van Keppel, 1st Earl of Albemarle (1669/70-1718), to whom she bore a son, William Anne Keppel (1702-1754), and a daughter, Sophia Keppel (died 1773).

Probably commissioned by the sitter's husband; thence by descent; on loan from Rufus Keppel, 10th Earl of Albemarle
