Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), An Unknown Man, by British (English) School, circa 1700. A head-and-shoulders portrait, of a middle-aged man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a long pale curled wig, with a dark cloak and a lace jabot. The figure is slightly turned to his right and is seen in a three-quarters full-face pose. Possibly by the same artist as OXB/P/24.

Among the Oxburgh pictures sold by the present (9th) baronet; bought back by Lady Bedingfeld at a sale at Hunstanton Old Hall, on 17th July, 1952; presented to the National Trust by Sybil Lyne-Stephens, Lady Paston-Bedingfeld (1883 – 1985), 1952
