Summary
Oil painting on canvas of An Unknown Man by British (English) School, mid 18th century. Almost half-length portrait of a man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, with dark short hair, wearing a silver-blue 'Van Dyck' doublet with full sleeves edged with gold braid, gold frogging and gold buttons. His white collar is edged with pointed lace, and a dull gold cloak hangs over his right shoulder. He has an alert expression and a double-chin. White catalogue number 178 l.l.
