Summary

Oil painting on canvas, One of One of Four Battle Scenes: Horseman pursuing one another in the manner of Pieter Snayers (Antwerp 1592 – Brussels 1667). Showing close combat on horseback, figure with pistol drawn on a white horse, riding in from the left of the picture.

Provenance

Recorded in the Library in the 1891 inventory as 'Set of 4 Paintings - The Siege of Ludlow Castle by Wonverman'. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
