Summary
Oil painting on canvas, One of Four Battle Scenes: A Cavalry Engagement, manner of Pieter Snayers (Antwerp 1592 – Brussels 1667). A battle scene with three larger figures on horseback in the left foreground, the closest figure on a white horse, the horse turned to the left. In carved and giltwood frame.
Provenance
Recorded in the Library in the 1891 inventory as 'Set of 4 Paintings - The Siege of Ludlow Castle by Wonverman'. Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
